O circuito fechado

O que é diferente? Do que ontem foi?

Quando tudo se repete? Geração após geração, o que nos distingue da geração que nos antecedeu, e o que nos distingue da geração que nos sucede?

Tecnologia, talvez?

Ainda há arenas e touros torturados.

Ainda há hierarquia social grave.

Ainda há fome no mundo.

Ainda há ignorantes apesar de tanta informação disponível.

Ainda se atira lixo para a Terra.

Ainda se consome para além das posses e da necessidade.

Ainda existem guerras por poder.

Ainda existe racismo e descriminação.

Ainda existe violência doméstica e abandono dos nossos animais.

Ainda, ainda…

ainda…..

A tecnologia permitir~nos~ia fazer uma grande diferença e distinguir~nos da geração que nos antecedeu. Se fossemos comedidos no seu uso e se a canalizássemos para fazer o bem. E se investíssemos no cuidar de nós próprios e do todo. Um cuidar com consciência. O sistema tem uma agenda muito própria e não promove o nosso bem estar. É corrupto e short sighted. Cada indivíduo tem a responsabilidade de se cuidar e de se melhorar a cada instante.

É verdade que cada ser age de acordo com a sua muito própria consciência e o resultado colectivo revela que a consciência colectiva é diminuta. Que a diferença que cada indivíduo faz é válida no microcosmos mas, no largo espectro (macrocosmos), é minúscula, quase ridícula. Mas sem essa diferença, a mudança colectivamente falando, nunca se vai manifestar. Portanto, desculparmo~nos com a pouca ou nula diferença que fazemos, é invalidar o quanto podemos contribuir para um bem maior.

Ainda que estejamos de facto e quase irreparavelmente num circuito fechado de auto destruição, cabe a cada um de nós abrir esse circuito, com convicção e com verdade. Por nós e por aqueles que nunca terão a consciência necessária para o fazer.

Uma amiga disse~me recentemente “A mudança é difícil”, ao que eu respondi “Mas é necessária”.

The closed circuit

What is different? From what was yesterday?

When everything repeats itself? Generation after generation, what distinguishes us from the generation that came before us, and what distinguishes us from the generation that follows us?

Technology, perhaps?

There are still arenas and tortured bulls.

There is still severe social hierarchy.

There is still hunger in the world.

There are still ignorant people despite so much information available.

Trash is still thrown on the Earth.

We still consume beyond our possessions and our need.

There are still wars for power.

There is still racism and discrimination.

There is still domestic violence and abandonment of our animals.

Still, still…

still…..

Technology would allow us to make a big difference and distinguish ourselves from the generation that came before us. If we were moderate in its use and if we channeled it to do good. If we invested in taking care of ourselves and the whole. Caring with conscience. The system has its own agenda and does not promote our well~being. It is corrupt and short sighted. Each individual has the responsibility to take care of himself and to improve himself at every moment.

It is true that each being acts according to his own conscience and the collective result reveals that the collective conscience is tiny. That the difference that each individual makes is valid in the microcosm, but in the broad spectrum (macrocosm) it is minuscule, almost ridiculous. But without that difference, change, collectively speaking, will never manifest. Therefore, to excuse ourselves for the little or no difference we make is to invalidate how much we can contribute to the greater good.

Even though we are, in fact and almost irreparably, in a closed circuit of self~destruction, it is up to each one of us to open that circuit, with conviction and with truth. For ourselves and for those who will never have the necessary awareness to do so.

A friend recently told me “Change is hard”, to which I replied “But it is necessary”.
