A insensatez da cegueira pessoal

Dizemos com toda a certeza conhecermo~nos profunda e totalmente. Não creio que porque passamos a vida a sermos nós mesmos desde que nascemos, que este statement seja correcto. Que nos possamos conhecer em profundidade e perante determinadas circunstâncias, talvez seja por aí.

Nós conseguimos ver e apontar com tanta claridade características, aspectos, comportamentos nos outros, que temos a ousadia de acreditar e afirmar que somos senhores de nós mesmos, conhecedores da nossa totalidade. Mas isto é uma insensatez. Os outros também em nós vêm algos que a nós escapam, para os quais somos absoluta ou parcialmente cegos.

O meu convite é estarmos abertos a esta possibilidade e que nos permitamos ser vistos e através dos outros, vermo~nos.

The folly of personal blindness

We say with absolute certainty that we know ourselves deeply and completely. I do not think that because we spend our lives being ourselves since we were born, that this statement is correct. That we can get to know ourselves in depth and under certain circumstances, maybe that is it.

We are able to see and point out with so much clarity characteristics, aspects, behaviors in others, that we have the audacity to believe and affirm that we are masters of ourselves, connoisseurs of our totality. But this is nonsense. Others also see things in us that escape us, to which we are completely or partially blind.

My invitation is to be open to this possibility and to allow ourselves to be seen and, through others, to see ourselves.
